Neighborhood activist and attorney Marc Sarnoff easily defeated former city administrator Linda Haskins in a District 2 runoff election to replace City Commissioner Johnny Winton, who is awaiting trial on police battery charges. Miami District 2 includes the downtown corridor and the city’s affluent coastal neighborhoods, where unprecedented high-rise development has sparked complaints about Mayor Manny Diaz’s growth policies. Haskins was a strong Diaz ally.
